SUSANNE Schumacher é fotógrafa, realizadora de cinema e artista visual alemã. Nasceu em Burgdof, Hannover, Baixa Saxónia, onde continua a viver. O seu trabalho aborda as questões de identidade num mundo em constante mudança, o que já lhe permitiu expor nos mais variados países. Está ainda envolvida em projetos sociais e na formação e educação de jovens. Identifica Portugal com o sol, calor, mar, música e os sons da guitarra portuguesa. Não conhece pessoalmente o nosso país, ao contrário dos filhos que já são fãs. É uma aventura que um dia há-de concretizar.

Susanne Schumacher setzt sich in ihrer Arbeit mit Fragen der Identität in einer sich verändernden Welt auseinander. Seit 1980 entstehen zeitgenössische Fotografien, ab 1996 Film und seit 2004 Neue Medien.
Die Bildende Künstlerin Susanne Schumacher lebt in Burgdorf/Hannover und arbeitet weltweit. Studium an der Leibniz Universität Hannover. Mitbegründerin des Medienhauses für Kunst und Kultur in Burgdorf, Vorstandsmitglied (Mitarbeit/Produktion) des Fernsehmagazins OKOK Television. Mitglied der GEDOK NiedersachsenHannover.
Engagement in sozialen Projekten, Weiterbildung/Ausbildung in der Jugendarbeit und Einbindung in Institutionen – Landesfrauenrat -Förderprojekte der Landesmedienanstalt. Seit 2000 präsentiert sie ihre Werke im In- und Ausland. Ihre Arbeiten befinden sich im öffentlichen und privaten Besitz.
2012 erhielt sie den Niedersachsenpreis “Grüne Nika”. 2014 nahm sie an der Ausstellung “Nations-Water-Cultures” in New York in den Vereinten Nationen teil. Es folgten Ausstellungen in Italien, Türkei, USA, Spanien, Rumänien, Ägypten, Norwegen, Südkorea, Brasilien, Portugal, Russland und Deutschland, zuletzt während des Foto- und Filmfestival Aiud und der photokina in Köln.

6 – When you think in Oporto (Portugal) remember immediately what?
Denke ich an Portugal, so denke ich an Sonne, Wärme, Meer, Musik, portugiesische Gitarrenklänge, den sensiblen Fado mit viel Gefühl und als Inspiration und Identitätssymbol der Stadt und Land. Persönlich steht eine Reise noch bevor. Meine Kinder sind längst Fans von Portugal. Ich selbst kann nur eine kleine Begebenheit erzählen, ich habe hier in Hannover an portugiesische Freunde meinen Oldtimer (Automobil), einen blauen MG verkauft und hörte von ihnen die Begründung: Das Auto wird nur in Portugal gefahren, dort bekommt er nur Sonne und wird ein langes chromblitzendes Oldtimerleben haben. Eine interessante Erfahrung sind die Post-Kunst-Ausstellungen in der ganzen Welt, die auch in Portugal stattfinden.
When I think of Portugal, I think of the sun, heat, the sea, music, Portuguese guitar sounds, the sensitive fado with a lot of feeling and inspiration and identity symbol of the city and country.
