JOHN Jennings é artista e escritor irlandês. Além da cidade de Galway, de onde é natural, já viveu em Dublin e Limerick. Associa o Porto, que ainda não conhece (not yet), a edifícios antigos e ao mar. E é precisamente o mar que banha a sua cidade que o inspira a conhecer novos lugares e novos modos de vida, seja online seja na realidade. Além disso, como Galway é frequentada por muitos turistas está constantemente a contactar com outras culturas. As atividades artísticas que tem ao seu dispor são tão numerosas que não tem como evitar ser influenciado por elas.

5 – The place where you born and live influenced your artistic life? If so, why?

Galway has a sea based landscape, there are canals and ports and a harbor, this gives one a feeling of living on an island, however it also inspires the idea of travel or the unknown. I think that when looking at the sea or scenery, you think of different places and different ideas, you feel inspired and open. This allows me to expierience other cultures, whether it is online or in reality, In the past the sea would have proven an obstacle to learing about other cultures, but today I am overcoming traditional ideas of life and engaging in comtemprary life, in a way, because of the sea. Also, because Galway is a tourist city, there are lots of different areas where you can find clusters of different cultures. This is how Galway has influenced my artistic life.

Also there is a wide range of arts activities and festivals in Galway and when you are constantly surrounded by arts on a daily basis, you cannot help, but to be inspired.
